Flux of Grenen

2018 / Filming, Editing

Flux of Grenen is a short film made as a result of reflecting back on the residency, Architecture of Skagen - before and now, residency and exhibition by ONSDAGSKOLEN, where I had participated as an artist with Juhee as a collaborator.

Both of us were literally ecstatic during this period, with so much amount of input in relation to the pressure of time to create the output: a space given for installation with freedom and limitation, a lot of rich information coming from excursions to sharing of personal archives and memories, and the geological factors, etc. On one particular excursion, we visited Grenen, the peninsula located at the Northernmost tip of Denmark, is where the North sea meets the Baltic sea, yet these two seas do not mix.

Grenen was the land of a timeless void,
full of fluxional silver sand hovering in the air,
with the wind they clashed and sanded down
the corners of roofs and uncovered skins.

바람에 섞인 모래가 사포처럼 건물 모서리를 갈아먹고
아주 찬찬히 - 하지만 무생물의 시간으로는 - 아주 빠르게 가라앉는.

After I came back to London, I started spending time in the studio reflecting back on the experience my body and mind went through, and rearranging the documentation I had brought back. And as a result, I created this video.
