Ludic is a multidisciplinary collective of open-minded artists, with backgrounds in visual arts, sound, theatre, dance, design, psychology and neuroscience. Ludic was co-founded by Haeeun Lee (Hennie), Iulia Maracine and Chaeeun Park in 2013, when the three members were studying performance arts at Royal Central School of Speech and Drama, University of London.

As the name suggests, Ludic often finds interest in subtle, ludicrous elements which may not receive much attention, and excessively focus on such themes by conducting process-based projects. 

Ludic tries to abolish hierarchies, to implement a democratic structure in our practice; creating a platform that enables each individual to freely develop one’s own artistic practice, without losing the overall cohesiveness of a collective research. It is significant that the members share different paths with each other, in order to maintain a constant skill and knowledge exchanges during the collaboration.

Ludic’s strong interest lies in acknowledging and altering somatic patterns of behaviour. With great effort we devise processes to acknowledge, unlearn and invert the solidified behavioural and cognitive schemata, and open this practice up to the participants. We value the idea of community; no competition, no super egos, but mutual support and solidarity.

The most recent array of research that we have been investigating is to translate theoretical concepts from critical plant and animal studies into bodily practices; questioning our uncanny affiliation within strangeness with the other-than-human.
